Hank's Pasta Bar
Award-winning local restaurateur and Chef Jamie Leeds, the mastermind behind Hank’s Oyster Bar, serves Italian dishes in a chic and contemporary space at Hank’s Pasta Bar in North Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. The cuisine, like the décor, is polished and cleverly crafted, with new takes on classic fare. The relaxed, informal atmosphere is both stylish and rustic, with features like repurposed barn doors and natural colored wood tables – giving way to a farmhouse feel in the main dining room. But the look is offset in the front against luxurious upholstered chairs and couches in vibrant teals and blues. With an army of congenial waiters on hand, the secret to the success lies right in the kitchen. Along with Chef Thomas, the infamous “Pasta Mamas” - experienced pasta makers who mix, knead and cut the dough daily – are hard at work behind the scenes. The menu extends far beyond the delectable dishes with an extensive assortment of cheeses and charcuterie, fine wines and craft cocktails round out the varied choices. Signature dishes include the Grilled Octopus with an Arugula Fennel Salad; the hearty Rosemary Grilled Lamb Chops served with garden-fresh Italian herbs; Tuscan Kale Tortellini, made with smoked Mozzarella, and Red Pepper Intingolo; and the Duck Ravioli elegantly prepared with Duck Confit, Pan Jus, Chestnuts and a Thyme-Butter Sauce. The happiest of hours can be spent on weeknights from 4-7PM, where guests revel in Old Town’s most wallet-friendly place to have a drink and nibble.
